Project Breakdown

Overview

Image Summary: A stylized sci-fi subway set in space, blending familiar transit design with intergalactic storytelling. This scene imagines a world where space travel is casual and routine. Commuters catch the next stop while planets pass by.

Inspiration: Inspired by retro-futuristic aesthetics and classic public transit design, I wanted to create a clean yet slightly worn interior that felt both functional and cinematic. The idea of a commuter’s helmet left behind adds a subtle narrative hint.

Modeling & Texturing

Modeled and rendered entirely in Maya, the scene uses a mix of hard-surface forms and clean paneling to mimic real-life subway interiors. Posters were generated using DALL·E and adjusted to fit the style. Materials were created in Foundry’s Mari, focusing on metal, plastic, and glass to give the set a sleek but grounded feel.

Lighting was kept soft and diffused to balance the sterile interior with subtle storytelling cues — like the helmet and the glow from outer space. The final look maintains a cinematic tone while hinting at a lived-in, sci-fi world.
